If your child struggles with reading or avoids what they see as a chore, we need to ease the burden and help them find some joy.

Choose (or help them choose) picture books with more visuals and less words where they only make 1-2 errors per page/double page.

📚 read together
📚 take turns reading sentences/paragraphs
📚 help your child sound out tricky words
📚 encourage your child to finish sentences (especially great in rhyming books)
📚 give lots of praise

Success breeds success and the goal is to help your child experience success, build confidence, create enjoyment.

You are never too old for picture books. Some children may see their peers reading chapter books and think picture books ‘are for babies’. Absolutely not true! Many adults (including moi) LOVE reading picture books.
