Cold sores are the uninvited guest nobody asked for after lip blush (trust me I get it!) and if you’re prone to them, prevention really does matter.

Lip tattooing can trigger a cold sore flare-up in clients who carry the virus, which is why we always recommend peppering prior to your appointment with lysine (a multivitamin and antiviral medication from your local pharmacy)

A few quick reminders:

Don’t leave it until days after treatment to think about prevention!! It’s too late ladies!

Start any prescribed antivirals exactly as directed if you are prone to a breakout.

Keep your lips clean and hands off while healing
Avoid picking, licking, or overdoing the lip balm!

Follow your artist’s aftercare instructions properly
A little prep goes a long way - because the only thing you want waking up after lip blush is beautifully tinted lips, not a dramatic cold sore cameo. 🥺😭
