And just like that, we celebrated Choro Day and the birthday of Pixinguinha, sharing Carinhoso in a moment that felt truly timeless. Thank you to everyone who made it possible, and to those who came, sang, clapped, and danced with us!
A night we’ll carry with us for a long time!

Ricardo Steyer

Ricardo is a Sydney-based Brazilian 7-string guitarist deeply rooted in the language of choro, where his playing reflects both tradition and refined musicality. A dedicated student of the great Fernando Cesar, Ricardo brings a rich understanding of the 7-string guitar’s role, blending bass lines, harmony, and melodic counterpoint with elegance and groove. Since relocating to Australia in 2012, he has become an active presence in the Brazilian music scene, performing across a range of settings while championing choro and MPB.

Ricardo will be a special guest on the 25th of April at Kidogo Arthouse for the Choro Day celebration.

Now part of Western Australia’s choro scene, Mayuka highlights the clarinet’s unique voice in this tradition, fluid, lyrical, and full of character. Catch her at Choro Day, on the 25th of April at Kidogo Arthouse.

Today we had a colourful little visitor, a Rainbow Lorikeet, and of course we had to play Tico-Tico no Fubá for him. The song couldn’t have matched the moment better: a tiny bird happily helping himself to our food.
