When in Morocco right? It makes me realise that we really do play it so safe in Australia. The design & craftsmanship of Marrakesh is incredible. Some old ( and totally on trend) some new (and emerging) design philosophy on display and it didn't matter where you turned it was beautiful.

So what do you think would you use any of these in your home?

For me, it was the furniture that was tiled. It was the checker and use of colour ways and colour pattern. Mosaic Zellige in Australia overwhelmingly expensive. (i checked about importing) but being creative with square / checker / grid..... I can see why it's now trending.

Slide 1 - Billions of hand cut flower pattern Zellige mosaics
covering the worlds 3rd biggest mosque. Thousands of men, sitting and chiselling tiles
for 5 years to cover the mosque head to tow. And the design? Centuries old. We saw this design replicated on the entrance ways to the Fes Medina, one of the worlds oldest
Medinas taking back to the 7th Century. Talk about timeless design.

Slide 2 -Zellige is such unique product to work with creatively. It can be cut into any shape, any pattern, any colour, This bar was a testament to using tiles in different patterns and colours and it being a beautiful space.

Slide 3 - The dining tables at Mo-Mo Marrakesh were designed creatively to tie in with this over-the-top whimsical restaurant design. But I loved these Zellige tiles with the unique glazing on each individual piece.

Slide 4 - Square / Grid / Checker tiles were used in abundance throughout Marrakesh, old and new. Another use of pattern and colour that will stand the test of time in this old world meets contemporary city.

Slide 5 -Visiting Hotel De La Mamounia, an iconic building showered in tiny black and white hexagon Zellige Mosaics, with marble floors and more diamond checker inlays.... When budget isn’t an option.........
