Keeping the site clean, safe and moving: liquid waste removal in action
Our team Andy and Ryan were recently on site again with Edge Construction, handling liquid waste removal during piling works on a busy Scarborough development.
Here's something that often gets overlooked on a construction site: drilling and bored piling generates a serious amount of wet spoil and slurry. As the rig bores down through sandy, water-logged ground, that material has to go somewhere.
And it's not just a housekeeping issue. If that slurry isn't cleared away quickly, it can slump back into the open bore and need re-drilling, build up around the rig and tooling, and turn the working platform soft and unstable. All of that slows the piling crew down and costs time. Clearing it as you go keeps the rig working in clean, firm ground and the whole operation moving.
That's where we come in. Using our KingVac vacuum unit, the team safely removes the liquid waste and slurry straight from the pile, clears it from the work zone, and carts it away for correct disposal. No mess left behind, and a clean, stable pad for the construction crew to keep working.
It's a great example of how vacuum trucks do far more than dig. On projects like this they keep the whole operation flowing, letting the piling rig do its job while we handle everything it leaves behind.
Great work Andy and Ryan, and thanks to the team at Edge Construction.

Our team Andy and Ryan were recently out at The Dunes in Scarborough, working with GMF on a job that shows exactly why NDD has become the go-to method for working around buried services.
The challenge: a septic pipe that needed to be held firmly in place. The fix involved installing sheets of steel to stop the pipe shifting out of position over time. But getting safe access to that pipe is where things get interesting.
So what is NDD? Non-Destructive Digging uses a powerful combination of pressurised water (or air) to break up the ground, paired with high-powered vacuum suction to lift the spoil away. Unlike a traditional excavator or backhoe, there's no metal blade biting blindly into the soil. That means the surrounding pipes, cables and services stay completely intact while we expose exactly what we need to.
For a job like this, that matters. Disturb or crack the wrong service near a septic line and a straightforward task quickly becomes an expensive, messy one. NDD lets us work with precision, right up against the pipe, then set the steel in place with confidence.
The muscle behind the job was our KingVac 11000, one of the hardest-working trucks in our fleet. Its suction capacity and water pressure make light work of WA's tough, sandy and clay-heavy ground.
Great work Andy and Ryan, and thanks to the GMF team.
Got underground services that need to be located, exposed or worked around safely? NDD is almost always the smarter first move.

Midland Junction prep work. The details that keep major projects moving. 🚧
Before new asphalt goes down on a car park, everything underneath needs to be sorted first. Our crew was onsite exposing pit lids for alterations, making sure drainage infrastructure is accessible and ready for the next stage of construction.
We also handled curb cleanup ahead of clean fill placement and the incoming weather. Timing matters on civil projects like this. Get the prep work done right, and the rest of the job flows smoothly. Rush it or skip steps, and you're looking at delays, rework, and headaches down the track.
Vacuum excavation is perfect for this type of precision work. We expose what needs to be accessed without damaging surrounding infrastructure, remove debris efficiently, and leave the site ready for the next trade to move in.
It's not the flashy part of construction, but it's the part that has to be done properly. Midland Junction is shaping up, and we're proud to play our part in getting it right.
