Woodside commissioned a report proving WA is falling behind on climate — then used it to justify building more fossil fuels 🤯

That's a cop-out — not a plan.

Woodside's own research points to the real solution: a rapid renewable transition.

Transitioning away from fossil gas would deliver cheaper and more secure energy for Western Australians.

Instead, Woodside wants to push ahead with Browse — a massive new gas export project that would lock in decades more emissions.

WA is already the only state with rising emissions and no legislated reduction targets. The last thing we need is Woodside learning all the wrong lessons from its own report.

Companies like Woodside are set to pocket windfall profits as the devastating war in Iran sends gas prices soaring — while the rest of us suffer climate disasters and cost-of-living pressures driven by fossil fuels.

Woodside is seeking approval to drill 57 gas wells at the pristine, diverse Scott Reef off the WA coast — a plan that would be devastating for endangered species and migrating whales.

Woodside has bought its way into WA schools, museums and sports clubs, to distract us from the fact that it is warming the planet, slowing down the renewable energy transition and ripping us off.

Had enough? You’re not alone.

Join the rest of us — protest Woodside’s reckless plans for gas expansion at the company’s 2026 Annual General Meeting on Thursday, April 23.

We’ll be there to remind the company, its investors, the media and decision-makers that time’s up on dangerous, expensive fossil gas, and that Scott Reef must be protected for future generations.

This will be WA's biggest and loudest anti-Woodside protest of 2026 — and the more of us there, the stronger the message.

BIG GAS IS TAKING THE P**S

Last night, a sold-out crowd gathered at H&C Urban Winery in Fremantle for a conversation on how the gas industry harms Australia's economy and environment.

Australia Institute co-CEOs Richard Denniss and Leanne Minshull joined CCWA Campaigner Greta Carroll, beer maker Rhys Lopez and artist Lucy Peach to discuss how Big Gas is holding us back, and what we can do about it.

"Australia is the third largest exporter of fossil fuels in the world," said Richard Denniss.

"Do you know how the Saudis feel when the price of oil goes up? Rich. But in Australia, what do we call it when the price of gas and coal and oil go up? Cost-of living crisis.

"You can't support expansion of gas and coal in Australia in 2026 and say you believe in the climate science. That's just bu****it and needs to be called for it."

Call your Federal MP today to demand a 25% tax on gas exports to pay for cost-of-living relief and the renewable transition.
