"Instead of goals, I've learnt to use something I call guideposts – my values" ✨

When Collegian Kate Dixon (Class of 2008) returned to MLC to speak at a Senior School Assembly this year, she shared a message that resonated with students and staff alike.

From captaining MLC's A Grade netball team and studying speech pathology, to moving to Canada on her own, volunteering with refugees, and now working as a Communication Partner with the Department of Justice, Kate's career has taken unexpected turns. Rather than following a carefully mapped-out plan, she credits three guiding values – adventure, curiosity and generosity – with helping her navigate every major decision 🌿✨

Kate encouraged students not to worry if they don't yet know exactly where life is heading.

"You won't always know which path is right. When that happens, don't panic about not having a goal. Instead, check in with your guideposts – your values."
