There’s been a black cloud hanging over us this week-
Literally in Perth with the weather but emotionally for all of us in Australian theatre with the announcement of yet another major musical tour cancelled. For someone who runs a business set predominantly in that field it has rattled me a bit. I am lucky at the moment we have a full workshop and are very busy with lots of fun creative builds but who knows how long that may last.
Many of our builds are for schools where they are teaching students the joy of knowing and loving theatre. We owe it to those students to create somewhere for them to go and roles for them to aspire to. The fact that major players are bowing out is not a nice feeling for the rest of us still working on the dream. I hope it’s not a sign of more to come.

This week we installed our version of a ‘super pit’ on stage at the Perth convention centre for a mining conference. This 6 metre sculpture represented an open section of a working mine and had to be installed and uninstalled super quick.

This was such a great design and lovely build as we got to use lots of traditional joinery.
It came together so well.
