Perth Biodesign 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner

The Venture UWA team joined the Perth Biodesign community last week to celebrate 10 years of healthcare innovation at their Gala Dinner in Kings Park. An evening of great food, live jazz, and even better conversations with some of the brightest minds in the space.

Grateful to be part of an ecosystem doing work that genuinely matters.

💡 Panel Night Recap ⚡

Recently, SEEC was proud to help bring together students, professionals and industry voices for The Future of Energy: Innovation, Risk and Opportunity.

Held in collaboration with Venture UWA, EEEWA - Electrical and Electronic Engineers of WA, and the Progressive Energy Society UWA, the panel explored one of the biggest challenges facing our generation: how we navigate the energy transition in a way that is technically possible, economically viable and environmentally responsible.

We were fortunate to be joined by an incredible panel: Jason McFarlane (Director of WA GreenTech Innovation Hub), Bruce Norris (UWA Foundation Fellow and Chemical Engineering Program Chair) and Sinead Thompson (Environmental Engineer at the Department of Energy and Economic Diversification).

Together, they shared valuable insights across innovation, decarbonisation, emerging technologies, energy systems, policy, industry risk and the opportunities ahead for students entering this space.

A key message from the night was that the future of energy will not be solved by one technology, one sector or one profession alone. It will require collaboration across engineering, business, government, research and communities. For students, this was a strong reminder that there are many pathways into the energy transition, whether through technical design, environmental planning, policy, entrepreneurship or systems thinking.

A big thank you to Clara Moody and Kabir Bajwa for facilitating such an engaging and thoughtful discussion, and for helping guide the conversation throughout the night.

Thank you also to our panelists, collaborating clubs and everyone who attended. It was great to see so many students engaging with the future of energy and the role we can each play in shaping it.
