The clients 6'7" wanted to build a new house because the existing was small, cold in winter almost freezing and hot in summer. The house was sited ok for the Perth climate except that it was mostly a South facing wall which had no sun for 6 months of the year and the summer would cook with the setting sun. The rooms were also placed wrong for their lifestyle with bedrooms on the western side and living spaces on the Eastern side. The changes were accepted by the owners keeping just a few of the existing walls attempting sustainability and the existing slab. Timber frame additions and wrapping the building in sustainable recyclable materials will make it more livable for the next 100 years. You be the judge as to the new design which will be cool in summer and warm in winter now.
