This NAIDOC Week, our Playgroup WA team came together for a special morning of connection, culture and learning ๐Ÿงก

Led by our Aboriginal Playgroup Coordinator Michelle, we began with an Acknowledgement of Country before getting hands on with a native animal yarn wrapping activity. As we created our own animals, Michelle shared their Noongar names and stories, making it a fun and meaningful way to learn.

We then enjoyed a beautiful bush tucker morning tea lovingly prepared by staff, featuring delicious native ingredients including kangaroo, crocodile, lemon myrtle, wattleseed, saltbush, samphire and more.

A huge thank you to Michelle and everyone who helped create such a thoughtful celebration of culture, connection and community.

Did you know the WA Government is developing the State's first Preventative Health Strategy?

Playgroup WA is encouraging Western Australians to share their ideas on
what supports better health and wellbeing and what actions can help prevent illness before it occurs.

Your feedback will help shape a healthier future for Western Australia and ensure
community voices are at the heart of the strategy.

The consultation is open for a limited time.

This NAIDOC Week, we celebrate 50 Years of Deadly. A milestone that honours five decades of strength, culture, leadership and community, while recognising the generations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have kept culture strong and continued to share knowledge, stories and traditions

At Playgroup WA, we know that playgroups are powerful places for children and families to connect, learn and celebrate together

Our Aboriginal Playgroup Leader, Michelle, takes us through a yarn wrapping craft to create snakes, or norns. As little hands wrap, twist and create, families can share stories, spark conversations and learn more about Aboriginal culture through play

Whether you're joining us at playgroup or creating at home, activities like this help children build respect, curiosity and appreciation for Aboriginal culture
