Ovarian cysts, endometrial polyps and uterine fibroids are all common conditions, but they’re not the same thing.
🥚 Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that develop on or inside an o***y. Many form naturally as part of ovulation and can disappear on their own.
🌸 Endometrial polyps are small overgrowths of the lining inside the uterus (the endometrium). They can sometimes cause heavy periods, irregular bleeding or spotting between periods.
🍊 Uterine fibroids are solid, non-cancerous growths made of muscle that grow in or around the wall of the uterus. Depending on their size and location, they can contribute to heavy bleeding, pressure symptoms or pelvic pain.
While these conditions can sometimes cause similar symptoms, they’re different conditions with different causes and treatment options. If periods, pain or bleeding changes are affecting your quality of life, it’s worth speaking with a healthcare professional 💛
