Kickback Books

I just sold this copy of “Treasures of Ukraine” to a lovely young woman from Ukraine.

I had just put the book on display at the front of the shop after having it behind the counter for the past week.
It had only been out for about 1 hour when a young woman came in to see if we sold gift boxes (we don’t).
She left but then came back in to pay for a book she had found outside and that’s when she spotted it!

She and her 3 year old daughter have been out here for 2 months after spending time in the UK. All of her family are still in Ukraine and have just moved from their homes in Kherson near Crimea to Kyiv to be safer.

She was so surprised and delighted to have found the book and is looking forward to reading it to her daughter and teaching her about the beautiful art and history of their country as she grows older.

What an incredible interaction and coincidence that she was the first person to see the book 🇺🇦 📚
