"Buy the worst house in the best street."
It's advice you've probably heard before.
I can honestly say it changed my life.
Back in 2014, I bought a property in Alexandra Headland on the Sunshine Coast. It wasn't pretty. It was old, rundown and definitely the worst house on the street.
But it was just two streets back from the beach, and I could see the potential.
That one decision became the foundation for everything that followed.
It was where I met Bianca.
Years later, we received approval to subdivide, knock it down and build the three-storey duplex on one of the lots, you see in the last photo.
The journey wasn't straightforward. There were plenty of challenges along the way, from sourcing the site and navigating approvals to managing the build itself. Development is never as simple as it looks.
But looking back now, that purchase gave us so much more than a home.
It helped us build equity, launch our business, grow our property portfolio and create opportunities we could never have imagined back then.
One of the biggest lessons I've learnt is this:
You don't need to buy the perfect property.
You need to buy the right property.
