This arrangement was the last wedding arrangement I made before lockdown.. after a postponement, for the beautiful
Man. I've cried heaps these last few weeks. Lockdown 4.0, postponements, a big personal move, friends, family and peers really struggling and then the utter destruction of the place that holds my heart and my peace. The hills. The beautiful Mount Dandenongs and its surrounds.
In the absence of much media coverage and little government support or assistance watching our community and wider community come together has absolutely blown me away.
Cafes and restaurants who are already struggling due to restrictions and power outages/waste offering free food and beverages. Small businesses creating amazing donation options from pay it forward meals to financial donations for hotel stays. Entire communities with no financial supplements and their own personal struggles coming together to create hubs, homes and havens for displaced people and animals in our communities.
SES and CFA working literally day and night away from their families. Many affected themselves.
It just goes to show our resilience, that regardless of a pandemic, lockdowns, mother nature and our personal struggles that so many people are inherently caring, generous, kind and loving in the face of adversity even when they are struggling themselves. Whether it be financially, physically or emotionally.
I've not been sleeping well. But I will tonight.
Feeling so privileged to be a part of such a phenomenal effort.
Keep it up. Keep going. Keep on keeping on.
We're better together.
