DIY.. This is a perfect example of why a licensed builder should be engaged when completing construction works such as building a pergola on the back of your house.
We were commissioned to identify the causation of a prolonged roof leak.
The home owner attached the pergola to the fascia as is common practice.. not taking into consideration that the fascia isn't a structural member and has then constructed this contraption to direct the pergola roof water into the existing guttering without taking into consideration how the existing dwelling roof will drain into the guttering in.
An attempt to silicone the edges of the roof tiles has also been made because for some reason there is an ongoing leakage issue from this area.
This one didn't take us long to identify the cause of moisture ingress but the home owner wasn't delighted to hear that their contraption is not sufficient.
