Another year, another NDIS price freeze for Occupational Therapy.
Transparency is important, but sustainability matters too. Pricing needs to reflect not only current costs, but also the increasing complexity of work, workforce pressures and the need to retain skilled clinicians in the system. If OT pricing stays frozen while costs and demand keep rising, participants may eventually feel it through longer waitlists, smaller service areas and fewer providers staying in the Scheme.
From the NDIA’s side, the decision appears to be driven by market benchmarking and cost control. The concern from many OTs, allied health providers and participants is whether those benchmarks truly reflect the reality of NDIS work.
What do other OTs and allied health workers think about this?

Traumatic brain injury can change life in ways that are not always visible. A person may look physically well but still struggle with memory, concentration, fatigue, mood, routines, safety, or returning to the roles that once shaped their day.
Occupational therapy supports people after TBI by understanding how the injury affects daily life, from showering and dressing to work, family responsibilities, and community participation. Through practical strategies, fatigue management, cognitive supports, assistive technology, and home safety recommendations, OT can help people rebuild confidence, independence, and quality of life at their own pace.

In Australia, men continue to be disproportionately represented in su***de deaths, with males accounting for around three-quarters of su***de deaths recorded in 2024. This is one reason why conversations around men’s mental health need more patience, awareness, and understanding.
For some men, opening up is not just about being willing to talk. Sometimes, it can be difficult to recognise what they are feeling, explain it clearly, or ask for support before things become overwhelming.
This Men’s Health Week, let’s remember that silence does not always mean someone is okay. Sometimes, the words are just hard to find.
If you are worried about yourself or someone else, consider reaching out to a GP, mental health professional, or trusted support person.

Can you believe how much technology has evolved?
And the wild part? In the future, these designs will probably improve even more dramatically with smarter sensors, better materials, AI-assisted monitoring and more personalised equipment. The equipment keeps changing, but the goal stays the same: helping people move, transfer, rest, communicate and participate in daily life more safely and independently.
