Moogy

werful, haunting voice. Often performing alongside a percussionist, drummer, bass player and guitarist, Moogy’s sound is like no other. Influenced by her experience of different cultures, which filters into the languages Moogy sings in, her style astounds audiences. Born in French-speaking Belgium to a Swedish father and Italian mother, Moogy moved to Australia at the age of six where she started to learn classical piano, reaching Level 8 by the age of thirteen and studying jazz ballet at the academy. Returning to Belgium aged eleven, Moogy was inspired by the range of cultures she had been introduced to and flourished in Arts education. After graduating, she studied Jazz Piano at the Jazz Studio in Antwerp, Belgium and at twenty Moogy returned to Australia with just enough money to buy an electric keyboard and a car and headed up the east coast looking for gigs and writing music. Settling in Melbourne, Moogy started to play at local bars and restaurants and by 2008 she had built a repertoire of covers and self-penned songs, performing either as a solo artist or with a selection of musicians. Having returned to her musical roots, Moogy landed regular shows at Claypots in St. Kilda, the Evening Star in South Melbourne and jazz clubs like The Paris Cat and Manchester Lane. Moogy went on to pursue her passion by studying Sound Engineering and Music Management at University and working as a piano technician. From being invited by Anton Newcombe from The Brian Jonestown Massacre to collaborate for Melbourne Music Week in 2015, singing three of his songs to an audience of 2,500 people, to recording and playing live shows as much as possible, Moogy has already built a strong reputation as an English/French composer and performer. Needless to say, in 2016 her following will continue to grow.
