The story of Chris Marie's artistic journey begins in 2015, after a 20-year hiatus from the arts. That year marked his return to creative expression, as he launched his stunning yet always-curious art form. During his early 20s in the 90s, Chris had studied painting, drawing, and design, eventually becoming a commercial artist for the next two decades. But in 2015, he experienced a deep appreciati
on for the delicate merging of fine art and the commercial world, which would shape his new direction. Working primarily with glass and acrylic, Chris opened a small gallery in Beaumaris, Victoria, which he named Artflava. This space became a celebration of consumerism through subtlety and images that captivated his audience with vibrant colors and nuanced compositions. In 2022, Chris took his artistic vision a step further, curating a new art gallery-themed short-stay rental called Artflava Haus. Inspired by Banksy's hotel concept, this space encouraged visitors to immerse themselves in Chris' world of the curious, the real, the eccentric, and the off-kilter. More recently, health challenges have prompted Chris to explore new themes and concepts in his work, focusing on the research and exploration of physical and spiritual well-being through subjects like real food, deep breathing, and mindfulness. Throughout his artistic journey, Chris Marie has continuously evolved, seamlessly blending his commercial expertise with a fine art sensibility to create a truly unique and captivating body of work.
