Good Neighbour

Today is our amazing team members Zach’s birthday - who personifies our name Good Neighbour.

He lives and breathes the idea of what a good neighbour is.

When he is not dedicating his time to cleaning up the environment, or serving the homeless, he is fighting to get musicians paid!

He puts his hand up first to help others, he remembers everyones name in the wider group of Mushroom staff, and truly takes the time to learn more about them, include them, raise them up and attend and support as many gigs as he can!

MG would be proud!

We are so thrilled to have him on the team. He truly is a Great Neighbour!

The report also found that while Australia’s recording industry revenue has increased significantly since 2021, 'much less of that money is going to the Australian artists who create the music.’

A former Spotify executive has exposed how streaming music algorithms from industry giants are killing Australian music, revealing the dramatic drop-off in local artists featured on the world's biggest services.

Will Page, Spotify's former chief economist, revealed artists appearing on services such as Spotify, YouTube, and Amazon, have fallen by 20 per cent between 2021 and 2024, and that while revenue from Australian music increased by 25 per cent from 2021, the artists' share shrank by 30 per cent.

Each year, Rolling Stone’s MoM special invites artists to interview each other about life, music, and everything in between.

We went big for our inaugural local edition, uniting some of the biggest artists in Australia and New Zealand for revealing conversations.

Leading the way are global stars Empire of the Sun’s Luke Steele and Tones And I, who got together for a fascinating discussion about the simplicity of great music, the power of self-acceptance, and much more.

The duo grace the cover of our December-February issue, which hits newsstands from Thursday, December 12th.
