What a start to the 2024/25 Border Gavaskar Trophy!!

India win the 1st test in Perth by 295 runs after being bowled out for just 150 on the opening day.

Coming on the back of a shock 3-0 whitewash at home to New Zealand, this was the worst possible start for India. Australia were right on top and India were staring down the barrel. However an inspirational bowling masterclass by stand in skipper Jasprit Bumrah with figures of 5-30 dismantled the home side to 104 all out.

In the 2nd innings, India were much more assured at the crease. Openers Jaiswal and KL Rahul shared a record 201 run opening stand. The 22 year old Jaiswal continued his purple patch with a sparkling 161, with KL Rahul coming into some form with 77. And then it was time for the King 👑 to put on a clinic. Virat Kohli .kohli continued his love affair with Australia to notch up his 30th test century - an unbeaten 100* off just 143 balls. Debutant Nitesh Kumar struck 38* off 27 as India declared at 6/487.

With a ridiculous target of 534 to chase, Australia slumped to 4/17 and despite some defiance from Travis Head (89), were dismissed for 238 runs. The wickets were shared Bumrah took 3/42 to finish with 8 scalps for the match - Siraj had 3/51 and Washington Sundar 2/48.
