Pre-tanning before a holiday will save you from burning.

We asked a specialist.

Dr Sweta Rai explains that a base tan is not a shield it offers an SPF of around 3 at best, nowhere near enough to protect you abroad. A tan is actually your skin's response to DNA damage that's already happened, so "topping up" before you fly just means more damage before the holiday even starts. The only thing that saves you from burning is proper SPF, reapplied through the day.

About 1 in 20 first pregnancies will develop preeclampsia

Most cases are mild and appear near the end of pregnancy - but some develop much earlier or become far more serious.

The only cure is delivery: once the baby arrives it always resolves, though symptoms can take a few weeks to fully settle. Until then, care teams manage and monitor where they can, and move to delivery when mother or baby's safety is at risk. It's hard to self-diagnose until it's already severe, so it pays to know the signs; especially a persistent headache that doesn't ease with rest, water or Panadol.

A positive test isn't the finish line.

Know the signs before it becomes an emergency. 💛

That mole you've been meaning to get checked? You're not being dramatic and you're not alone.

Most of us have noticed a change on our skin at some point and quietly wondered whether it was something to worry about. The truth is, you don't need to figure it out on your own.

The ABCDE rule is the same framework dermatologists use in clinic. Save this carousel so you know exactly what to look for and share it with someone who might need it too.

This carousel is based on expert advice from Dr Anjali Mahto (), a London-based Consultant Dermatologist and author of The Skincare Bible.

If anything looks different, feels off, or simply won't leave your mind that's reason enough to get it seen.

Melanoma is one of the most common cancers in the UK, but caught early, it's also one of the most treatable. Acting sooner really does matter.

You finally see a positive test. But after everything it took to get here, joy comes with a side of fear. 💛
In this episode, Dr Stephen Cole sits down to talk about what it's really like to be pregnant after IVF.
There's a common assumption that IVF pregnancies are automatically "high-risk." They're not. What can shift the picture is the bigger context, older average age or underlying conditions, not the IVF itself.

But the clinical side is only half the story. So many women walk into pregnancy after IVF feeling like the deck is stacked against them. Failed cycles. Miscarriages. Years of trying. By the time the pregnancy finally takes, every twinge, every scan, every quiet morning becomes a question.

Pregnancy after IVF deserves a team that understands the journey that got you here.

Listen now for the full conversation on pregnancy, IVF and maternity.

Your health habits don’t have to look like a restrictive meal plan and hours at the gym.

Dr Mac Clark-Dickson is a gastroenterologist. This is what his daily diet and exercise actually look like:

👉The Mediterranean approach: Prioritising whole foods without stressing over perfection and limiting red and processed meats to look after bowel health.

👉Simple additions: Using extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and fresh herbs for flavor and color.

👉Realistic movement and Mindfulness: Staying active with a run or simple bodyweight exercises at home, and keeping connected to core values during daily activities.

Because the habits that stick aren’t the ones that look good. They’re the ones that fit your actual life.

Save this for the next time you want to prioritise your gut health.
