He is seventeen years old, yet he carries the responsibility of three lives.
Deep in eastern Serbia, Stefan cares for his immobile father and his 73 year old grandmother in a house that is slowly falling apart around them.
When Stefan was just three years old, his father was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and has been immobile ever since. His mother left that same year and never returned. Since then, Stefan has become the only support holding this family together.
They survive on just A$330 per month, less than many families spend on groceries in a single week. That amount must cover food, medication, electricity and every basic necessity.
During the week, Stefan stays in a school dorm twenty kilometres away so he can continue his education. Every Friday he returns home with the same fear.
Did his father manage to get through the day.
Did his grandmother fall.
Did the fire go out.
Did the roof give way again.
Their roof leaks in several places. The walls are damp and the cold enters through every crack. These are not conditions in which an immobile man and an elderly woman can safely endure the winter.
Despite everything, Stefan does not complain. He asks for nothing. He quietly pushes his father’s wheelchair through mud and narrow spaces, carrying a responsibility no child should bear.
But he should not have to carry it alone.
Your support can provide urgent repairs to the leaking roof and damaged walls, a functional wheelchair for his father, a safe access ramp to the house, safer living conditions in cold and damp rooms, food and essential supplies, and support for a grandmother who has little strength left.
These are not extras. These are the basics required for dignity and survival.
Stefan has carried everything by himself for years. He does not have to anymore.

БОЖИЋНИ КАРАВАН

Дочекали су нас најмлађи, песмом и рецитацијама које су испуниле простор топлином и радошћу.
У малим рукама нашли су се велики божићни пакетићи.
Осмеси стидљиви, кораци несигурни, а радост искрена, она која постоји само код најмлађих.
Овде расте нова генерација. Мала по годинама, али велика по снази коју носи. За ову децу, пакетићи нису били само поклони, већ знак присуства, бриге и припадности, порука да нису сами и да нису заборављени.
Хвала свима који су подржали и донирали. Ваша подршка је стигла до деце и видела се у њиховим осмесима.
Овим се Божићни караван на Косову и Метохији завршава до идуће године, а ми настављамо даље, широм Балкана, ка још више локација и деци која нас чекају.

We were welcomed by the youngest children with songs and short recitations.
Christmas gift packages were placed into small hands.
Shy smiles, unsteady steps, and a simple, genuine joy that belongs only to early childhood.
A new generation is growing here. Young in age, but shaped by the place they live. For these children, the packages were not only gifts, but a sign of presence and care, a message that they are not alone and that they have not been forgotten.
Thank you to everyone who supported and donated. Your support reached the children and could be seen clearly in their smiles.
With this visit, the Christmas Caravan in Kosovo and Metohija concludes until next year. We now continue across the Balkans, reaching more locations and more children who are waiting.

Косово и Метохија носе тежину која се осети, али и снагу која остаје.
Настављамо даље, са истим разлогом због ког смо и дошли.

In these communities, we distributed Christmas gift packages to children who live, grow, and spend their school year in circumstances that demand far more strength than is often visible from the outside. For them, these packages were not just gifts, but a sign of presence and care, a reminder that they are not alone and have not been forgotten.
Thank you to everyone who supported and donated. Your support was turned into concrete action, and its meaning was most clearly reflected in the children’s smiles.
The region of Kosovo and Metohija carries a weight you feel, and a strength that stays with you.
