Engineered Screed Vs Non-Engineered (Sand & Cement Screed).
Do you know the difference ?

Traditionally, the options for a floor underlayment screed were limited to sand & cement screeds with varying strengths and compositions.
Our ScreedMax Commecial Screed (Non-Engineered) is only suitable for bonded and unbonded applications for the Tile & Stone market.
This can typically achieve approximately 18 MPa compressive strength @ 28 Days.

On yesterday's Poll we asked a question - Which product will be installed for an unbonded application over underfloor heating with plastic holding system?
We @ ScreedPro will always recommend an Engineered Screed, being our Premium ScreedMax Pro S30 with Fibre Reinforcement (ScreedMax Fibres).

Why may you ask ?
The hydronic piping in the underfloor heating system creates a compressible force in the screed through heat exchange. Thus we need the flexural capabilities and the higher compressive strength of an Engineered Screed to effectively handle such forces.

Our ScreedMax Pro S30 achieves over 30+ MPa compressive strength @ 28 Days, and you will find this to be highly suitable as an underlayment in most applications.

Engineered Screeds our now becoming more common and being used everyday in the Resilient Flooring Market, since the AS 1884:2021 requirement for change from Sand & Cement Screeds to Engineered Screeds.

Engineered Screeds also have a significantly faster working time than Sand & Cement Screeds due to advanced moisture control.
