About Us
The Pink Ribbon Charity Fair was created in honour of my mother Marilyn Wilson. In 2010, Mum noticed a lump in her left breast … it was Stage 3 breast cancer, the lump was tiny but very aggressive. I couldn't allow Mum go through everything on her own. So my husband Mark and I moved to Brisbane, and vowed that we would stay there while Mum recovered. Mum had surgery, chemotherapy, the
n radiotherapy for several months. During her recovery and to create some happiness during what was a very difficult time for everyone, Mark and I decided to marry. We wed on December 27th 2010. It was a lovely, happy day, with Mum and all our family there to celebrate. We then decided to have a baby together as Mark is the last of the Wells family name. Riley Vincent Wells was born 28th April 2012 after 2 rounds of IVF. Riley's birth was the joy our family needed, after so many dark days with chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Eventually we had to return to Mackay for Mark's work. I asked Mum to come up north to live with us, but she liked living on her own in Brisbane. She just wanted us to be happy, thanked us for our help and support and within a month we had moved back to Mackay. A couple of weeks later Mum had a sore shoulder, and thought she had slept wrong. After more tests and blood work Mum received the devastating news. the cancer had returned, this time in her liver. Within weeks of receiving that terrible news, my darling Mum passed away at 2:25pm on December 8 2012 with Mark and I at her side. The Pink Ribbon Charity Fair was launched in March 2013. It’s only been made possible with the help of my family and numerous other people, and I thank every single one from the bottom of my heart. Our aim is to spread the word for women to not be afraid, have any unusual lump checked, no matter in what area of their body it is. Regards
