Bunions are for old people... right? 👵

Not exactly.

One of the biggest myths we hear is that bunions only show up once you've reached retirement age. The reality? We've seen them in teenagers and young adults too.

Here's the surprising part: age isn't usually the cause.

For many people, bunions are linked to genetics and the way their feet move. If you've inherited the right (or wrong!) foot mechanics, a bunion can start developing long before you ever think about "getting old."

The reason older people seem to have them more often is simply because bunions tend to get worse slowly over many years.

So if you've noticed a bump forming near your big toe, your shoes are starting to feel tighter across the front of your foot, or bunions run in your family, it's worth getting things checked sooner rather than later.

No, we can't wave a magic wand and make a bunion disappear. But catching it early often means we can help slow its progression, reduce discomfort and keep you comfortable for longer.

Your future feet might just thank your current feet. 😉

Podiatrist vs Physio vs Chiro for Foot Pain | Hurst Podiatry 09/07/2026

🤔 Podiatrist, Physio or Chiro?

You wake up with heel pain.

You Google it.

Five minutes later you've diagnosed yourself with everything from tight calves to a rare condition that only affects mountain goats. 🐐

Then comes the real question... who do you actually book?

The truth is, podiatrists, physios and chiropractors can all play an important role, but they're not interchangeable. Knowing who specialises in what can save you time, money, and a whole lot of limping around waiting for answers.

We've put together a straightforward guide explaining the differences, when each professional is the right fit, and why foot and lower limb problems often belong with a podiatrist first.

Have a read and take the guesswork out of getting your feet sorted.

While it's normal for children to experience changes as they develop, ongoing foot pain, limping, heel pain, persistent ingrown toenails, or concerns about the way they walk shouldn't be ignored.
