JK Jackals

develops high-level research projects in different areas of mining and mineral processing industry, which are generally funded by international mining companies, institutes or government programs. The students are also involved in plant surveys, testwork, seminars and conferences around Australia and the globe. The JK Jackals acts as internal network within the JKMRC academic environment. Students share their professional experiences, mentor and support newcomers, impart culture and eventually build friendship. Academic network, assistance and social activities such as lunches, sports, recreation and the traditional International Night are available for students. The JKMRC are located at the Finney’s Hill in the Brisbane suburb of Indooroopilly in Brisbane, in the premises of the University of Queensland Experimental Mine (UQEM), an old mine donated to the University of Queensland by the Queensland Government. The UQEM and JKMRC, as many academics, researchers and students describe it as a unique and very attractive place in the world for postgraduate studies.
