Caring for your waterproof garments is super important. Well cared for gear will last longer.

How often should I wash my waterproof gear?
A waterproof garment should be washed as often as you need to remove any sweat, grime, or any impurities sitting on the surface.

What happens if I don’t wash my waterproof garment?
By not washing your garment, the contaminates sitting on the fabric will cause seam tape to lift and the delamination process to occur faster.

Do I need to reapply a DWR (Durable water repellent) everytime I wash my garment?
No, you do not need to DWR your waterproof garment every time you wash it. Placing the garment in the tumble dryer for 10-20 minutes will reactivate the DWR.
You’ll know if your garment needs a DWR if water does not bead and run off after a wash.

Wash in or topical spray durable water repellent?
At remote we use a Grangers brand topical DWR which goes into a spray bottle and is evenly distributed over the garment. We prefer this method to the wash in DWRs.
