Gumeracha Country Fire Service

This is the official page for the Gumeracha CFS and provides localised relevant emergency services and Fire Service information for the community. The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) is a volunteer-based fire and emergency service dedicated to protecting life, property and environmental assets in regional and semi metropolitan South Australia. With approximately 15 000 volunteers and 110 staff, CFS

provides a range of fire and emergency services to more than 434 communities across South Australia. These incidents include:
• Bushfires,
• Structure and Motor Vehicle Fires,
• Road Crash Rescue,
• Hazardous Material Spills, and
• Support to the SA Metropolitan Fire Service and State Emergency Service. The CFS also works closely with local government to perform the important roles of fuel removal, bushfire prevention and community bushfire and fire safety education. FIREY WOMEN - GUMERACHA

The Firey Women program is a practical and engaging four-week workshop series designed to help women understand bushfire risk and build the knowledge and confidence to prepare their homes, families, and communities.

Workshop Details:
Four-week workshop series - 6:30pm – 9:30pm

To gain the full benefit of the program and develop a comprehensive understanding of bushfire preparedness, participants are expected to attend all four consecutive sessions.

Created specifically for women, the program provides a safe, supportive, and non-threatening environment to learn practical skills that can help protect families, homes, and livelihoods.

Across the four sessions, participants will explore:

Preparing emotionally for bushfire events
Understanding bushfire danger ratings and warnings
Deciding when to “leave early” or “stay and defend”
Developing a Bushfire Survival Plan
Identifying hazards around the home
Operating pumps and firefighting equipment
Understanding bushfire behaviour

The sessions are designed to build on one another, providing a complete and practical approach to bushfire preparedness.

Attendance at all sessions is essential
Workshops are delivered in a supportive and inclusive environment
No prior experience or knowledge is required

The rains are here, and things are greening up, but the Fire Danger Season still continues until the 30th of April.
