Upgrading your caravan to Power Paul Australia Scout lithium batteries can make a huge difference when travelling around Australia, especially if you enjoy free camping or long off-grid trips. Here are the main benefits and why many caravan owners upgrade their power systems.
⸻
🔋 1. Massive Power Capacity for Off-Grid Travel
The Scout lithium batteries have very large energy storage (around 345Ah / ~4400Wh per battery) which means you can run more appliances for longer periods.
What this means when travelling:
• Run a 12V fridge/freezer for days
• Power lights, water pumps, diesel heaters
• Use coffee machines, induction cooktops or inverters
• Charge devices, Starlink, laptops and TVs
With two batteries (like your 346Ah setup) you can have nearly 700Ah of usable power, which is massive for a caravan.
⸻
🏕️ 2. Longer Off-Grid Camping
Lithium batteries allow you to use almost the full capacity, unlike AGM batteries that should only be used to around 50%.
Benefits for travellers:
• Stay off-grid longer without needing powered sites
• Reduce or eliminate generator use
• Ideal for remote Australian camping
⸻
⚡ 3. High Power Output for Modern Caravan Appliances
Scout batteries are designed with a high-current BMS capable of around 250A continuous discharge.
This means they can easily run:
• Large inverters
• Coffee machines
• Air fryers
• Induction cooktops
• Starlink + electronics
Many caravans today need serious current, and lithium handles it easily.
⸻
⏳ 4. Extremely Long Lifespan
Lithium batteries like the Scout series are rated for around 6000+ deep cycles and can last 10 years or more depending on usage.
Compared to AGM batteries:
• AGM lifespan: 2–4 years
• Lithium lifespan: 8–12+ years
Over time, lithium often becomes cheaper per year of use.
⸻
⚖️ 5. Much Lighter Than Lead Batteries
Despite the large capacity, a Scout battery weighs roughly 26–27kg.
To get the same capacity with AGM batteries you might need 4–6 batteries, which would weigh 120–180kg.
Benefits:
• Less weight in the caravan
• Better towing
• More payload capacity
⸻
📱 6. Smart Monitoring & Protection
Scout batteries include:
• Bluetooth monitoring
• Built-in Battery Management System (BMS)
• Active cell balancing
This allows you to:
• Monitor battery health
• See charge/discharge in real time
• Diagnose faults quickly.
⸻
🇦🇺 7. Australian Designed & Built
One of the biggest selling points is that they are designed and hand-built in Australia, with testing and calibration done locally.
For caravan travellers this means:
• Support from an Australian company
• Designed for Australian touring conditions
• Quality control before sale
⸻
🚐 8. Perfect for Solar Charging Systems
When paired with:
• Victron MPPT solar
• DC-DC chargers
• Bluetooth monitoring
Lithium batteries become the heart of a powerful off-grid caravan system, allowing you to harvest solar during the day and run your van comfortably at night.
⸻
✅ In simple terms:
Upgrading to Power Paul Scout lithium batteries means:
• Longer off-grid camping
• More usable power
• Faster charging
• Less weight
• Longer lifespan
• Better monitoring
• More reliable power for modern caravans
⸻
💡 For people travelling Australia full-time, a lithium upgrade is often the difference between:
“Constantly worrying about power”
vs
“Living comfortably off-grid anywhere.”

🌧️ SEQ Rain & Humidity Alert – Time to Air Out Your Caravan! 🚐💨
With all the recent rain and humidity across South East Queensland, it’s the perfect time to check your caravan and make sure moisture hasn’t crept in. Excess humidity can quickly lead to mould, musty smells, and hidden water damage if it isn’t addressed early.
At RONIC Caravan & RV Servicing and Repairs, we recommend taking a few simple steps to dry out and protect your van after wet weather:
✅ Open all windows and doors to let fresh air circulate
✅ Run roof vent fans to push humid air out
✅ Remove any damp bedding, cushions, or clothing
✅ Use a dehumidifier or moisture absorbers inside the van
✅ Check seals, windows and hatches for water leaks
✅ Wipe down internal surfaces to prevent mould growth
✅ Run your air conditioner in dry mode if available
✅ Empty and dry water and grey tanks
✅ Maintain airflow while the van is stored
✅ Inspect awnings and external seals for trapped moisture
⚠️ Prevention is always cheaper than repairs. Catching moisture early can save you from costly structural damage and mould problems later.
If you suspect water ingress, leaks, or dampness, our team are SEQ’s water ingress specialists and we’re here to help.
