Darren is still alive thanks to the quick thinking of strangers, including these three here (standing).

While driving on the Gold Coast Highway in Tallebudgera last month, Darren suffered a heart attack behind the wheel before his car crashed into a parked vehicle and became wedged down an embankment.

He was found blue, unconscious and hunched over the steering wheel, when construction workers Chris and Shane (right) pulled him from the car.

Several bystanders took turns performing CPR while Lachie (left) sprinted to find an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Darren was shocked with the AED six times - something most people don't come back from.

"I'm a very lucky man," he said.

"What they did for me - you can’t put a value on that. It’s worth more than anything."

An important reminder that knowing CPR isn't an option, it's a necessity - which could save a life.
