Geelong Field and Game

A productive working bee was held yesterday, where significant progress was made in the wetland despite the weather conditions. Our efforts were focused on proactive management of the wetland flora to create a thriving environment for wildlife, particularly in anticipation of our acquisition of a water licence, which is proving to be a challenging process. Additionally, upgrades were made to the Australian Hunting Archives Building. As the breeding season approaches, we will intensify our predator management activities to optimize the chances of successful breeding.

The 2026 season drew to a close 30 minutes after sunset, and tonight's events underscored the true commitment of hunter conservationists. While 8 animal activists drove by a dumping ground, it was a hunter who stopped to collect the discarded waste. Meanwhile, the activists were preoccupied with editing video footage for social media, those dedicated to building, improving, and protecting wetlands were making a tangible impact. We won't see these activists until next duck season, but our work in the wetlands will continue year-round.

Our monthly meeting is scheduled for Monday, the 4th, at CWC, where a complimentary dinner will be served at 6:30 pm, preceding the 7:00 pm meeting, and we are pleased to announce that our local Divisional Fi****ms Officer, DFO, will be our special guest speaker; new members are cordially invited.
