For those new here, PIYP runs in line with the school term calendar. Each term we start fresh, taking participants on a structured journey through four stages of recovery and personal development: establishing hope and trust, restoring self-worth, creating opportunity and finding purpose.

At the start of each week we share the topics and themes our groups will be exploring, so you always know what the week ahead looks like.

This week in Addiction Support, we will be setting up the group and exploring what addiction is and why self-awareness is so important in recovery. When we aren't self-aware, it is easy to go through the motions without noticing how our thoughts are influencing our actions. Building self-awareness means recognising those patterns and challenging the ones that are holding us back. That is where real change begins.

Mental Health Group will be discussing what mental health is, why it matters and how it impacts our everyday lives. We will also be exploring the importance of coping strategies and how we can start weaving them into our daily routines.

Our Women's Group will be focusing on the benefits and practice of goal setting. By setting goals and having something to work towards, we are able to grow consistently in the direction of our best self. Goal setting also brings greater awareness of who we are and where we want to go, and this week we will be looking at how to set a goal and actually set yourself up to achieve it.

With Tuesdays and Thursdays back in full swing, Personal Training and Boxing are also up and running. We would love to see you there 💪

It's never too late to join us. Get in touch with our team at [email protected] or call (03) 5292 3000.

We are proud to announce that The Power In You Project has been awarded a $5,000 Community Grant from United Way Glenelg 🙏

This funding will support the delivery of a weekly support group at the are-able offices in Portland, running every Monday morning for 12 months.

The group will be open to anyone in the Portland community facing addiction, mental health or justice challenges, building on our recent expansion into the region in partnership with are-able.

Grants like this one are made possible through workplace giving, and we are so grateful to United Way Glenelg and to every individual whose generosity makes community investment like this possible.

Expanding access to support across South-West Victoria is a priority for us, and this funding is a meaningful step in that direction.
