Opendoor, formally WCIG, is a not-for-profit organisation empowering people to meet their goals and reach their potential. We provide assistance in employment, disability, youth and training, providing practical resources to help people find meaningful employment, increase independence and live more fulfilling lives.
Just over a year ago, a fantastic community project came to life at Anchor Youth Foyer in Lilydale, a space dedicated to supporting young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
This incredible transformation was led by Opendoor’s Work for the Dole participants, who poured their time, energy, and skills into landscaping, building, woodwork, and creative upgrades.
These spaces have truly become the heart of the home:
🌱 Outdoors: The herb and veggie garden, bocce court, and BBQ area have been fostering connection, fresh meals, and plenty of fun.
🎨 Indoors: The welcoming art and TV room, complete with custom storage, has provided a cosy communal space for residents to relax and unwind together.
A year on, we are still so grateful for this beautiful reminder of pride, purpose, and the power of community.
