π― DSL BRISBANE SUPER LEAGUE SEASON 2 β WEEK 4 PREVIEW π―
With just a few weeks remaining before Finals Night, every match now carries enormous significance.
The race for first place is heating up, the battle for the top four is tighter than ever, and several players know that one strong night could completely transform their season.
Week 4 features two huge Stream Board clashes, including a battle between the current top two players on the ladder.
π₯ ROUND 7
πΊ STREAM BOARD
Gordon Mathers vs Braidon Charlton
First versus second.
The league leader takes on the player closest to him in the standings in what could be the most important match of the season so far.
Mathers has been relentless since his opening-round defeat to Raymond Smith, winning five of his last six matches and building a remarkable +21 leg difference. Charlton, meanwhile, has been one of the competition's most consistent performers and remains firmly in the title race despite suffering his first official defeat last week.
A Mathers victory would create genuine breathing room at the top of the ladder. A Charlton win would throw the title race wide open.
π― BOARD 2
James Bailey vs Jamie Rundle
A huge opportunity for both players.
Bailey is still searching for his first official Super League victory, but several of his recent performances suggest that breakthrough result isn't far away. Rundle currently sits just outside the Finals Night positions and knows dropping points here could make the road to the top four much harder.
Expect both players to treat this like a must-win encounter.
π― BOARD 3
Raymond Smith vs Tristan Bognar
One of the most intriguing matches of the night.
Smith returns after missing Week 3 and remains one of the favourites for the title despite slipping to third on the ladder. Bognar, meanwhile, has been the hottest player in the competition over the last fortnight, climbing from the bottom of the standings into the top four.
A few weeks ago this fixture may have looked straightforward. It certainly doesn't now.
π― BOARD 4
Robbie King vs Josh Kime
Potential Finals Night implications everywhere you look.
Kime currently occupies fourth place, while King sits just outside the qualification spots and desperately needs points to close the gap.
With so little separating the middle of the table, this could prove to be one of the most important matches of the entire evening.
π₯ ROUND 8
πΊ STREAM BOARD
Josh Kime vs James Bailey
The feature match of Round 8 presents a fascinating storyline.
Kime continues to impress in this Super League season and currently finds himself just outside the top four. Bailey, meanwhile, is still chasing that elusive first official win.
Both players will see this as a huge opportunity to pick up valuable points, and if Bailey can finally get on the board, it could completely change the momentum of his season.
π― BOARD 2
Robbie King vs Raymond Smith
A match that would not look out of place on Finals Night.
These two players have already met this season, with Smith taking a narrow 7-5 victory in Week 1. King will be eager for revenge, while Smith knows another win keeps him firmly in the hunt for top spot.
With both players capable of producing huge performances, this could be one of the matches of the night.
π― BOARD 3
Braidon Charlton vs Jamie Rundle
Charlton knows every point matters in the chase for Gordon Mathers.
Rundle, however, is one of the most dangerous players in the competition when he finds his rhythm and remains within striking distance of the top four.
If Charlton slips up against Mathers earlier in the evening, this match could suddenly become crucial to his title hopes.
π― BOARD 4
Tristan Bognar vs Gordon Mathers
A potential blockbuster to finish the night.
Mathers has been the standout player over the past three weeks, but Bognar has emerged as one of the competition's form players after back-to-back impressive weeks.
If both players win their opening matches, this could become a genuine battle between two of the hottest players in the league.

π― DSL BRISBANE SUPER LEAGUE SEASON 2 β WEEK 3 REVIEW π―
Week 3 delivered plenty of drama, a major shift at the top of the ladder, and a statement performance from a player who has suddenly launched himself into Finals Night contention.
There was also an unusual circumstance during the evening, with reigning champion Raymond Smith forced to withdraw from the night's action. Declan Bailey stepped in to ensure matches could still be played, but those results do not count towards the official standings. As per league rules, Smith's scheduled opponents, Braidon Charlton and Josh Kime, were awarded 7-0 victories.
With those adjustments applied, the ladder has a very different look heading into Week 4.
π MATHERS TAKES CONTROL
For the first time this season, Gordon Mathers sits on top of the Brisbane Super League ladder.
Mathers entered Week 3 chasing the unbeaten leaders and wasted no time making his move, defeating Robbie King 7-4 before backing it up with a 7-4 victory over James Bailey later in the evening.
The two wins move Mathers to 5 victories from 6 matches and, perhaps most impressively, an incredible +21 leg difference, comfortably the best record in the competition.
After three weeks, Mathers has transformed himself from a chaser into the man everyone else is trying to catch.
π₯ CHARLTON STAYS IN THE HUNT
Although his scheduled Stream Board clash with Raymond Smith was unable to proceed officially, Charlton was awarded a 7-0 victory and remains firmly in the title race.
The night became even more interesting when Charlton faced Tristan Bognar in Round 6. Bognar produced arguably the performance of the season so far, storming to a remarkable 7-2 victory while averaging over 92.
While the result doesn't majorly hurt Charlton's hopes, it serves as a reminder that nobody in this field can be taken lightly.
Charlton remains second on the ladder and very much in contention.
β BOGNAR'S BREAKTHROUGH CONTINUES
After opening the season with two losses, Tristan Bognar has become one of the form players of the competition.
Week 2 saw him upset Robbie King, and Week 3 saw him go one better.
First, Bognar dispatched James Bailey 7-2 before producing a sensational display against Charlton, winning 7-2 with a 92.33 average.
Those performances have propelled him into the top four and completely changed the outlook of his season.
Just two weeks ago he was anchored to the bottom of the ladder. Now he's sitting in a Finals Night position.
π KIME HOLDS HIS PLACE
Josh Kime was awarded a 7-0 victory following Smith's withdrawal and remains right in the mix for Finals Night qualification.
The qualifier continues to impress in his debut Super League campaign and currently sits level on wins with Bognar, separated only by leg difference.
With the middle of the table incredibly tight, every leg could prove crucial in the weeks ahead.
βοΈ KING AND RUNDLE SHARE THE SPOILS
Robbie King endured another difficult start to the night, falling 7-4 to Mathers, but responded with a dramatic 7-6 victory over Jamie Rundle in one of the closest matches of the evening.
Rundle also split his matches, recording a convincing 7-2 victory over Josh Kime before narrowly missing out against King.
Both players remain well within striking distance of the top four.
π BAILEY STILL SEARCHING
James Bailey's wait for a first official victory continues.
Losses to Bognar and Mathers leave him still looking for his breakthrough result, although his performances continue to be more competitive than the ladder suggests.
With eight matches remaining, one win could quickly change his fortunes.
π OFFICIAL STANDINGS AFTER WEEK 3
1οΈβ£ Gordon Mathers β 5 wins, +21
2οΈβ£ Braidon Charlton β 5 wins, +10
3οΈβ£ Raymond Smith β 4 wins, +9
4οΈβ£ Tristan Bognar β 3 wins, +1
Just outside the top four:
5οΈβ£ Josh Kime β 3 wins, +1
6οΈβ£ Robbie King β 2 wins, -3
7οΈβ£ Jamie Rundle β 2 wins, -6
8οΈβ£ James Bailey β 0 wins, -19
With Mathers now leading the competition, Charlton still firmly in pursuit, and only a handful of legs separating several players in the battle for the top four, the race to Finals Night is heating up.
Three weeks down. Four weeks to go before the regular season reaches its conclusion.
And if Week 3 taught us anything, it's that this ladder is far from settled.

π― DSL BRISBANE SUPER LEAGUE SEASON 2 β WEEK 3 PREVIEW π―
After two weeks of action, the Brisbane Super League is beginning to separate into distinct battles.
At the top, Raymond Smith and Braidon Charlton remain unbeaten at 4-0. Gordon Mathers is lurking just behind with the best leg difference in the competition, while Josh Kime currently occupies the last Finals Night position.
Meanwhile, Robbie King will be looking to reignite his campaign, and James Bailey, Jamie Rundle and Tristan Bognar are all searching for the results that could completely change the complexion of their seasons.
With six rounds completed after Wednesday night, we're close to the halfway point of the regular season.
π₯ ROUND 5
πΊ STREAM BOARD
Braidon Charlton vs Raymond Smith
It doesn't get any bigger than this.
The only two unbeaten players remaining go head-to-head with first place on the line. Charlton has built his season around finding ways to win the close matches, while Smith has combined results with the highest average in the competition.
One perfect record disappears on Wednesday night.
Will Charlton continue his dream start, or will the reigning champion take complete control of the ladder?
π― BOARD 2
Robbie King vs Gordon Mathers
A huge match for both players.
Mathers has quietly built momentum after winning three of his four matches and carries a formidable +15 leg difference into the contest. King, meanwhile, desperately needs a result after consecutive losses in Week 2.
For King, this feels close to must-win territory. For Mathers, victory could put him right alongside the league leaders.
π― BOARD 3
Tristan Bognar vs James Bailey
One of these players will be looking at this fixture as a golden opportunity.
Bognar finally got his first Super League win last week with an impressive victory over Robbie King, while Bailey continues searching for his breakthrough result despite showing signs of improvement.
Both players know a win here could kickstart their season.
π― BOARD 4
Josh Kime vs Jamie Rundle
An important battle in the race for the top four.
Kime currently occupies fourth position, but Rundle is only one result away from putting himself right back in the conversation.
Expect plenty of intensity in a match that could have significant Finals Night implications later in the season.
π₯ ROUND 6
πΊ STREAM BOARD
James Bailey vs Gordon Mathers
The feature match of Round 6 presents another fascinating storyline.
Bailey has yet to register a win, but his performances have been more competitive than the ladder suggests. Mathers, on the other hand, is one of the form players of the competition and knows that every point matters in the chase for the leaders.
If Bailey can pull off the upset, it could be one of the biggest stories of the season so far.
π― BOARD 2
Josh Kime vs Raymond Smith
Perhaps the most intriguing match outside the stream board.
Kime has impressed throughout his Super League campaign and currently sits inside the top four. Now he gets the opportunity to test himself against the reigning champion.
Smith will start favourite, but Kime has already shown he is capable of matching it with anyone in the field.
π― BOARD 3
Jamie Rundle vs Robbie King
Two players whose ladder positions don't reflect their ability.
King enters the week sitting fifth despite being widely considered one of the strongest players in the competition, while Rundle is still searching for consistency after a difficult Week 2.
A win here could be vital in keeping Finals Night hopes alive.
π― BOARD 4
Tristan Bognar vs Braidon Charlton
Bognar caused a stir last week by defeating Robbie King. Now he faces another massive challenge against the current number two.
Charlton has been perfect so far, but Bognar has already shown he is capable of upsetting the established order.
π CURRENT STANDINGS
1οΈβ£ Raymond Smith (4 wins, +9)
2οΈβ£ Braidon Charlton (4 wins, +8)
3οΈβ£ Gordon Mathers (3 wins, +15)
4οΈβ£ Josh Kime (2 wins, -1)
The biggest question heading into Week 3 is simple:
π Is this becoming a two-horse race between Smith and Charlton, or can Mathers, Kime and the chasing pack close the gap before the season reaches the halfway mark?

A great summary of the situation from our number one!
Unfortunately, thatβs the end of the road for Australia in this yearβs World Cup.
Only a small percentage of people will ever understand what itβs like to pull on their countryβs colours and represent them at the highest level. Every single person who wears their countryβs jersey steps onto that stage giving 110% and doing everything they can to get the win. Unfortunately, it doesnβt always work out.
I remember my first time on the big stage back in 2014 β I got whipped 6β0. I played on stage a few more times between then and my first World Cup in 2020, and let me tell you, thereβs no greater pressure than stepping onto that stage in the Green & Gold for the first time.
You want to do yourself justice, your partner justice, and your country justice.
I want to thank Adam for being up on that stage with me and wearing the colours proudly. Fresh on the scene and competing on a stage like that for the first time, he conducted himself well.
The comments and DMs Iβve read on social media over the last few days have been disgraceful. Nobody tears you down more than people from your own country. This is my seventh World Cup, and Iβm a seasoned player, so I know how toxic it is, but itβs still sad to see.
Both Adam and I earned our spots β end of story!!
Weβll see you all back on the World Cup stage in 2027. π¦πΊ
