Thank you to everyone who came to last night’s Women in Media WA event - WA’s Film Future, held at the ABC Perth studios. Thank you to the incredible panel of Megan Palinkas, Rikki Lea Bestall and Kate Separovich, coordinated and moderated by the stellar Sinead Mangan.

An insightful discussion. There has never been a more exciting time for creatives in Western Australia, from actors and writers to directors, producers, emerging talent and even tradies (yes, there’s opportunities for you also).

Also a shout out to our wonderful WIM WA Commitee who sure know how do get things done and have fun while doing it! Love our team 🤩❤️🙌.

And the team at ABC Perth, including audio genius Adrian Sardi who helped make sure everything was alright on the night!

WA’s Film Future: Are We Ready? 05/05/2026

Our film panel just got even stronger for our next Women in Media WA event!

We’re delighted to announce acclaimed writer-producer Megan Palinkas as the third speaker for our upcoming Women in Media WA panel on WA’s Film Future.

Megan is currently writing on Two Birds, the first major production at the new Perth Film Studios.

She was a key creative on the Fremantle/Netflix reboot of Heartbreak High, developing, writing, and script producing the Emmy Award-winning first season. Her career also includes work on Neighbours, The Heights and Reckless.

She brings deep experience in writing, producing and creating screen stories that capture audiences locally and globally.

Panellists now include:
🎤 Rikki Lea Bestall, CEO of Screenwest
🎥 Kate Separovich, acclaimed producer of Proclivitas, Evie and Dirt Music
✍️ Megan Palinkas, Writer-Producer, Two Birds, Heartbreak High and Reckless

The panel will be moderated by Women in Media’s own Sinéad Mangan from the ABC.
