Coming up in our exhibition schedule... This Skin of Light by Jose Patalinghug!

πŸ“† Opening Friday 31 July, 6-8pm, in the exit gallery

This Skin of Light is a new exhibition by artist-educator Jose Patalinghug, whose practice in oil and pastel explores portraiture, place, and perception. Faces and landscapes emerge briefly, reflecting impermanence and attentive observation.

'I’m not painting light as something external, but as something that settles onto the worldβ€”like a skin.'

Coming up in our exhibition schedule... Top End Characters by Ann Owen!

πŸ“† Opening Friday 31 July, 6-8pm

Every animal has a personality. That's not sentimentality β€” it's what happens when you've spent years painting the wildlife of Australia's Northern Territory at close range.

Top End Characters brings together original watercolours by Darwin artist Ann Owen β€” a collection that spans the iconic and the overlooked, from jewel-bright kingfishers to the magnificently misunderstood ibis. Painted in bold, vibrant watercolour on heavy cotton archival paper, these works capture not just what these animals look like, but what they're up to.

The Top End has a way of introducing you to its wildlife whether you're ready or not. This is Ann's response to those encounters.

Coming up in our exhibition schedule... Polarity! A group exhibition by Brendan Hicks, Yuka Hicks, and Michael Totham.

πŸ“† Opening Friday 31 July, 6-8pm, in the main gallery

In contrast to the rise of Al generated work, three local artists draw from something deeply human and timeless: the way people interpret their experiences, make sense of the world around them, and turn both the difficult and joyful parts of life into artistic expression.

Polarity, by Brendan and Yuka Hicks and Michael Totham, explores opposites and contrasts, and how they can come together to tell one complete story.
The work reflects the idea that artistic expression draws on the full range of human experience, joy and sadness, light and dark, tension and calm, to create something authentic and whole.
