🇬🇧 UK Travel Change – Important Info for Redlands Residents 🇦🇺

If you were born in the UK and now live in the Redlands, there’s an important change coming that could affect your next trip back home.

According to the 2021 Census, around 10,000 Redlands residents were born in the UK, so this may apply to a lot of locals.

✈️ What’s changing?

From 2026, the UK is tightening entry rules:

🔹 If you are a British citizen (including dual UK–Australian citizens):
You must enter the UK using a valid British passport.
You will not be allowed to travel on your Australian passport alone.

🔹 If you are only an Australian citizen (not British):
You’ll need to apply for a new UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling — similar to the US ESTA.

⚠️ Why this matters

Airlines will check documents before boarding.
If you don’t have the correct passport or ETA, you could be refused boarding.

✅ What to do now

✔ Check whether you still hold British citizenship
✔ Make sure your UK passport is valid (renew early — processing times can be long)
✔ If travelling on an Australian passport only, watch for the ETA rollout

This will affect many families in the Redlands — especially those born in the UK who moved here years ago.

‼️URGENT PSA ‼️

We won’t be open until further notice today 🥲 as the neighbouring tobacconist have increased is security against arsonists, that has left us as the target this time around.

We are waiting on the police to finish what they’re doing so we can start cleaning and repairing, and hopefully (hopefully) be open for dinner.

We have suffered some fire damage and plenty of broken glass. Rest assured all mess and safety hazards to staff, patrons, and product will be fully assessed and rectifed before we put anyone else at risk
