Organising Team Applications for the 2023 ANU Women* in STEM Leadership Conference are open! (Applications close THIS Sunday!)
📣Calling all female, femme-aligned and non-binary undergraduate STEM students📣
Did you know: In 2020, the Australian Government reported that women only made up 28% of the workforce in STEM qualified fields. They also found that the gender pay gap in STEM-qualified industries was $28,994! Statistics like these are why the ANU Women* in STEM Leadership Conference exist, and we want you.
This will be the third year of the conference, which has grown with every year, and there are 9 positions to be filled : Speaker Coordinators (2), Education Coordinators (2), a Finance Coordinator, a supporting Academic Dinner Coordinator, a Media Coordinator, Marketing Coordinator, and a Communications Coordinator.
More information about the roles + application form here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe60Ojp22AjHLTnwFJEqjxzQBI_loochELLuKhpogfJlSE98Q/viewform?usp=sf_link
Applications close 11:59pm Sunday the 23rd of October (Week 11).
This is an excellent way to develop teamwork, planning, networking, administration, communication, and professional skills in a safe, supportive environment!
You’ll work alongside Co-Directors Mariane Johnstone and Wanin Tessema, and Academic Dinner Coordinator Marissa Ellis (2022 Co-Director). If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Mariane Johnstone or Tessema at [email protected] 😊
Did you know:
A 2014 report found that women were 16% less likely to apply for a job and would (on average) only apply for a job if they met all the selection criteria, whereas men would apply if they met even just 60% of the criteria.
Of course, this is an old(ish) study, there are always exceptions, and we don’t have set selection criteria, but all this to say, we want you to apply, don’t count yourself out!
Some of our roles don’t require as much experience as the others, so give it a go 😊
