A healthier Murrumbidgee River is on the way!

We are very excited that the Federal Government is finally recommending that environmental flows to the upper Murrumbidgee be increased. This still only to the minimum amount required by science, but it is an important step in the right direction.

Check out the news here. We'll be making a submission to the Government's consultation to help ensure they follow through with this commitment!

Sone great news if you're worried, like we are, about plastics clogging up Canberra's beautiful nature!

The ACT Government has released its "listening report" on their consultation on single use plastic reduction. 82% of people who participated in the consultation wanted the ACT Government to take more action against problematic products, including single use plastics. That's a huge vote of confidence.

The report found broad support for the phase out of products such as plastic confetti, pizza savers, bread tags, soy sauce fish containers and more, and support for reuse initiatives for products such as coffee cups, cold cups, and barrier bags.

The government is now entering into a phase of deciding what to do with the feedback. We'll be working with them closely to ensure they take the strongest action possible against these problematic products.

Thanks to , and for their work with us on this issue.

Today we presented at the ACT Legislative Assembly Estimates Community Day. We talked about the good and bad about the environment in the recent ACT budget.

If you're concerned about the lack of funding into nature, get involved in our 1% for nature campaign, where we're calling on governments to increase nature spending to at least 1% of their budgets. Find out more on our website.

Great to meet with Elizabeth Lee MLA to talk about important issues facing Canberra's environment - from the Western Edge to policies related to invasive and native species. Thanks for the meeting!

Founded in 1981, the Conservation Council Act Region is the peak body for environment and climate groups in the ACT Region, representing close to 50 member groups, bringing together a united voice on environment and climate issue.

It was a pleasure to meet with Executive Director Simon and Policy and Advocacy Officer Emily to discuss the Council’s priorities and hot topics; from invasive species to the climate change strategy and everything in between.
