Today, Meridian delivers health and wellbeing services for the HIV community, LGBTIQA+ people, their families and allies. Meridian offers counselling, peer-led activities, health-promoting events, training, education and service navigation. Meridian also offers regular free s*xual health outreach testing services and a service of outreach supports and referrals for s*x workers and people who use drugs.

As the Meridian team ponders the discussions from the Health in Difference conference, it seems fitting to share some stats on LGBTQ+ people accessing health & support services in Australia.
Whether a q***r person feels accepted accessing these services varies significantly across gender and s*xuality, with Private Lives 3 in 2020 showing the following rates of feeling accepted ‘a lot/always’ when accessing health & support services:
- LGBTIQ average: 43.4%
- Le***an: 40.1%
- Gay: 54.8%
- Bis*xual: 43.8%
- Pans*xual: 37.3%
- Q***r: 26.7%
- As*xual: 33.3%
- Cis men: 55.5%
- Cis women: 42.4%
- Trans women: 46.5%
- Trans men: 30.1%
- Non-binary people: 21.5%
This demonstrates just how much work still needs to be done in health & support services to make them inclusive for LGBTQ+ people.
