And just like that.
We’re gone.
Initially I thought this retrospective was for you.
Have realised, if I’m honest, it was actually for me.
An opportunity to share, and relive.
Relive the story of Pink. My great love for Pink.
Pink is the ultimate collaboration of talent, commitment and excellence of many people, over many projects and many years.
But in this moment, the feelings are mine.
Some tears for the road behind
And fears for the road ahead
Gratitude to the inspiring women who trusted, supported, encouraged and embraced.
To Pip and Angelica. The greatest.
To Lily and Mia, always the inspiration.
Boundless joy.
Immense pride.
It really has been a blast.
Stay in the Pink lane.

Big Love.

Jane.

Keep your eyes on the prize.

Sometimes it comes wrapped with a big bow, sometimes it is a crown of glory.

Or possibly even a fleeting moment of mesmerising beauty.

It is the allure of our collections, our artworks, our events, our curated spaces.

Our glittering prize.

We reflect on a few of these moments in time.
In a puff of smoke, they vanish.
Magic is like that.

Our favourite image.

The mural painted on the exterior wall of the original Pink in the very early days. A symbol of the joyful clash of the 2 worlds coexisting.

Pink inc and Braddon Smash Repairs.

Sometimes there is beauty hiding in the raw, the unpolished.

Don’t blink, or you’ll miss it.

X.

Marks the spot.

When you can feel a shift. Smell the new.
Knowing it is the intangible that unsettles.

It was time for a fresh leap into the unknown, the unguided.
Creativity flourishes in that moment...an insatiable thirst for new and hidden possibilities.

Pink was thriving in her new space in the commercial sensation that was Lonsdale St, Braddon.
But maybe the small shopping precincts of Canberra needed some boutique experience. Some bespoke collections. Some Pink love.

It was time for a Pink sibling.

BabyPink.

Our pretty, pretty BabyPink.

She found her home in the Deakin shops, a tiny space with no walls, water stained and mouldy.
Nothing a can of Pink paint and some Pela interior design magic couldn’t fix.

Custom designed counters, heavy velvet drapes for private spaces, fur chairs, concrete, leather and metal accents.
The hard against the soft.

It was luxury. Pure luxury.
BabyPink became the home of some of the hippest brands in Europe: McQ by Alexander McQueen, The Frankie Shop, Nanushka, By Malene Birger.

Locals loved the experience, loved the space, and loved the brands. A Southside Pink. Sort of…

But just as you can feel that shift into the unknown, you can also feel the shift do a 360 and lead you another way.

Intuition is good like that. It can guide you one way, then quickly, another.
It is just keeping an ear out – that’s the trick.

So we tapped into our Pink intuition, took our X, and marked a different spot.

Velvet Lane.

An OG of the Australian online fashion space.

Created by Pink, styled by Pink.
We represented the coolest Australian brands in the market. The coolest.
It was aspirational and inspirational style.

Jane Capel Stanley was our ‘face’ and we shot an outstanding campaign in the lanes of Melbourne’s fashion district.
Pink brought Velvet Lane to life in a dark office space out the back of Queanbeyan.
Our own photographic studio with no heating. The pretty pictures on your screen were hours of hard, shivering yakka.

Velvet Lane then launched a pop-up in the original Lonsdale St Traders.
Here you could view the collections, but still buy online on our touch pads in the space.
We loved Velvet Lane. A visual sensation.
Velvet Lane was home to the bespoke furniture of the incredible and much loved Lisa Tea .
We had talent and ideas bursting at the seams.
But the market wasn’t quite ready. And we were too cold out in Queanbeyan, so Velvet Lane retired.
