It was time to get back into the racing groove; the first race of the year is done and dusted.
The new livery looked great, thanks Josh Dremel, and the Zenith Racing Solutions Excel was set to jet with the Peterbuilt Race Engines motor on song.

Race 1 - 3rd
Race 2 - abandoned
Race 3 - 1st
Race 4 - 2nd
Race 5 - 4th

Race 1 was one of the best racing I have ever had. The dueling and standard of racecraft between Jackson F, Brett, Connor R and myself was brilliant, clean and respectful by all.

Race 4 started dry and quickly turned into a massive downpour.
Brett and I managed to keep it on track and pushed each other hard fighting for the lead, but in the end the win went to Jackson F, who drove to the front from last at the start, well done Jacko.

Race 5 was an emotional roller coaster, I had a great start and was able to drive off to a great lead for the 10 lap race. By the end of lap 5, I had over a 5 second lead to the battling pack behind me, and then leaving turn 5 on lap 6 one of my cylinders decided it didnt want to play any more as I developed a massive misfire. Slowly but surely the chasing pack reeled me in and I crossed the line in 5th place, which was later changed to 4th.

Overall though I managed to win Trophy Series and the event overall.

Last weekend I was honoured and privileged to be formally awarded the QCRC Hyundai X3 Series State Championship at the QLD Motorsports Australia awards.

I am fortunate to have some great people and supporters in my corner, but I am most appreciative and lucky to have Pete Herriman building my race engines.
Thank you so much Pete and Deb for the rocket motors and all your support last season.

Let’s hope this year brings more success.
