Yesterday saw the unit’s command team present a number of honours and awards, promotions and farewells to some of our sappers, non-commissioned officers and officers. The day also marked the official handover of the Commanding Officer, LTCOL Alex Edgar and Regimental Sergeant Major, WO1 Dan Hedges to their respective successors, LTCOL Ian MacDougall and WO1 Ian Hallt. This occasion presented the perfect opportunity for Driver to handover his reign as the unit’s mascot. Outgoing Driver has been adopted by one of our sappers where he will live the best of life in retirement.
To LTCOL Edgar and WO1 Hedges: thank you for your leadership, compassion and your gift to the unit – an updated Royal Australian Engineers corps badge to reflect His Majesty The King’s Royal Cypher to display proudly at the front of the unit. The unit and its community wishes you both the best on your next postings.
To LTCOL MacDougall, WO1 Hallt and Driver – welcome to 2 CER!
