Victoria, this is your winter nudge.
When the weather turns, motorcycle training demand lifts quickly. Winter is your chance to get started while the pace is calmer and spring is still ahead.
If getting your motorcycle licence has been sitting on the maybe list, move it from maybe to booked.
Lock in your Learn to Ride session.
We get a lot of questions about motorcycle gloves, and with the NSW gear changes coming in from 1 July 2026, it is a good time to check what you are actually buying.
So, what kind of gloves should you get?
Look for gloves that fit snugly without restricting your hands, give you good feel on the clutch, brake and throttle, and include protection where it matters: palms, knuckles, fingers and wrists.
For NSW learner, P1 and P2 riders, the big one is compliance. From 1 July, approved protective gloves must be labelled or marked as meeting EN 13594:2015. Keep the tag on too, because you may need to show it.
Other things to think about:
- Leather or abrasion-resistant textile
- Reinforced palms
- Knuckle protection
- Secure wrist closure
- Weather suitability
- Enough flexibility to use your controls properly
