We invite you to join us next Sunday, August 3rd, as we come together to honour the life and legacy of Joanna Macy, beloved eco-Elder, who passed from her physical body on this Earth last week.

Joanna died at age 96, after a life full of grace, passion, and action. Her thinking and writings have been one of the major influences on all of us at CEL since the very beginning – in fact it is safe to say that CEL would not be what it is without the teachings of Joanna Macy.

From our very first camps with the young people in Bellingen EYE, we have been creating Mirror Walks, Truth Mandalas, and Councils of All Beings. In our current projects, we almost naturally follow the Spiral of the Work that Reconnects, using deep ecology tools and values.

Joanna’s thinking about the importance of gratitude, the acknowledgement of the full range of human feeling, and the interconnectedness of humans and non-humans has deeply informed our values and actions as an organisation.

Around the world, people are gathering to share gratitude for a life well lived and a legacy that continues to ripple out into wider circles.
