STORY
The current theme we are exploring is story .... story or narrative is such a deep part of being human. All cultures have stories, in fact Tahir Shah is quoted as saying "stories are a communal currency of humanity". Story is at the heart of the work we do ... Therapeutic Life Story Work privileges the child's story, their truth and the need to integrate that narrative and have mastery over it. As Maya Angelou said "there is no greater agony than an untold story inside you". Stories are powerful - they can be used to protect privilege, to create change, and to understand and make meaning in our lives. When we explore and understand out stories (including the painful parts) we enable ourselves to move beyond. As Brene Brown explains "when we deny the story, it defines us. When we own the story we can write a brave new ending".
