MotoGP's proposed plan to reduce each rider to just one bike during Friday and Saturday practice sessions is now in serious doubt after manufacturers failed to reach a unanimous agreement.

The proposal was introduced by Aprilia and backed by Ducati as a way to cut costs, reduce technical staff, and simplify garage operations ahead of the new 2027 regulations.

However, KTM has officially opposed the proposal, preventing the Motorcycle Sports Manufacturers Association (MSMA) from reaching the unanimous approval required before the plan can move to the Grand Prix Commission.

Discussions are expected to continue at Silverstone after the summer break, but sources suggest the manufacturers remain deeply divided, making approval increasingly unlikely.

Critics argue that using only one bike during practice would slow bike development, especially for manufacturers trying to catch up with the front-runners, while also limiting riders' ability to compare different setups.

Another major concern is that a single crash could ruin an entire race weekend, as riders would lose valuable track time while their only bike is repaired, resulting in fewer laps, less on-track action, and reduced exposure for sponsors.

Several teams and riders have also expressed concerns that the rule would hurt the spectacle of MotoGP without delivering significant financial savings, leaving the proposal on the verge of being abandoned for 2027.

Two riders who I believe will battle for the top, without overlooking Jorge Martin, who is currently leading the championship standings. In my opinion, Marc Márquez and Ai Ogura will be the strongest contenders, fighting for the title all the way to the end of the season. 🏁🔥

VALENTINO ROSSI: "I MISS MOTOGP A LITTLE, BUT I HAVE NO REGRETS"

Rossi admitted that he still misses MotoGP from time to time, but he has no regrets about retiring.

"Of course, I miss MotoGP a little, but not too much because I raced for as long as I possibly could. Now I race cars and I really enjoy it. However, motorcycles and MotoGP remain my greatest passion because they were my first love and the most important part of my life for many years."

The nine-time World Champion also expressed his gratitude for the continued support from fans around the world.

"Even today, so many people are happy to see me and continue to support me just as they did when I was racing. That means a lot of people truly enjoyed watching my races."

During the "Moto d'Italia – Culture Beyond the Track" event, Valentino Rossi said that although race victories were important, his greatest achievement was bringing MotoGP to a much wider audience.

"I achieved many great results during my career, and of course they were important. But my biggest satisfaction is that I introduced motorcycle racing to so many people, even beyond traditional fans."

He explained that throughout his career, people of all ages in Italy—from young children to grandparents—began following MotoGP, and he considers that to be the legacy he is most proud of.
