Storytelling has always been central to Jack Langford’s creative practice, and through film, he’s found a powerful way to explore identity, history and connection. ✨

In the story written by Jane Llewellyn on the our website, Jack reflects on how the inaugural First Nations Award helped bring his documentary Beyond Borders closer to life, supporting the post-production of a project centred around First Nations voices, Indigenous archaeology and truth-telling.

Applications for the 2026 Helpmann Academy First Nations Award are currently open, with $5,000 available to support eligible First Nations emerging creatives in developing new work, mentorships, research, professional development and more.

The First Nations Award is proudly supported by SA Power Networks.
