Understanding where our comes from not only supports our vibrant industries but also ensures good practices and a sustainable future.
In Australia, food labels must say where food is grown, produced, made or packed. This helps consumers make informed decisions about the food they buy.
Department of Industry, Science and Resources is seeking your feedback on a draft information standard to introduce country of origin labelling (CoOL) for seafood in hospitality settings.
Consultation open until 17 April. https://consult.industry.gov.au/cool-for-seafood-in-hospitality-information-standard-and-explanatory-statement

South Australia is in the grips of drought.
The Federal Government's Future Drought Fund (FDF) was set up in 2019 via Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
An initial 3.9billion was invested into the fund and it's expected to grow to $5 billion by 2028-2029. Each year, $100 million is made available for FDF grants and programs.
Let's make sure that gets its fair share.

Last night’s budget was a missed opportunity to provide real reform to improve the lives of South Australians.
South Australians are seeing massively increased costs across all areas including housing, transport, groceries, and healthcare. Yet, this government is missing Middle Australia, and we are seeing a huge erosion of the middle class as a result of this, at a time when we need to be future proofing the middle class more than ever.
Real Reform/Future Planning:
This budget was full of bandaids, not bridges past the real challenges we all face. We need real reform that makes a difference in the daily lives of South Australians.
We need to look beyond short-term solutions like energy bill relief and to instead invest in making energy cheaper to produce and more reliable.
SA Matters welcomes and considers proposals to reduce personal income taxes, but a minimal rebate of 73 cents per day in a year’s time is not a meaningful or constructive reform, and tax reforms need to go much further.
SA Business:
Local business is the backbone of South Australia’s economy. We need policies which support South Australian businesses. We cannot afford to write off small businesses by altering the write off of assets.
As two local business owners, Dianah and Rod can assure you that a vote for SA Matters is a vote for SA business.
Health:
SA Matters welcomes investment into the healthcare system, like decreasing the cost of PBS-listed medication for most South Australians.
However, we want reforms to modernise medicare, not small changes that will likely have limited impact. Instead of introducing more urgent care clinics, we desperately need more all care clinics.
We also need to be investing directly in good medicine, not just in good incentives.
SA Matters:
As a partnership and team based only in South Australia, SA Matters can and will put South Australia first.

Tomorrow night, the Treasurer, *Dr Jim Chalmers MP, will deliver the 2025–26 Budget.
The Budget is the Australian Government’s plan for collecting and spending money.
Money is mainly collected through taxes and is used to pay for federal government services and responsibilities, such as welfare and the defence force.
The SENATE has an important role in closely examining the use of the Budget.
Several times a year senators investigate how the government is spending taxpayers' money in meetings called Senate estimates.
If elected, Dianah and Rod would closely scrutinise that spending with South Australians in mind because
* Dr Jim Chalmers MP is not a medical doctor. He completed a doctorate (PhD) in Political Sciences at Australian National University (ANU).
